In an effort at keeping you informed of recent developments and activities within the organization, we provide the following summary of the wonderful work being performed by Pastor Gyamfi in Liberia.
Highlight – New Community Clinic, Liberia
Pastor Emanuel Gyamfi has been a long time partner with International Children's Fund. One of the most critical issues that he is addressing in his community outside Monrovia, Liberia is the need for medical care. During the month of March, his small clinic served more than 2,889 patients. Of these more than 200 were suffering from Malaria. Which is about the same amount that were treated last year at this time. We are thankful that the numbes have not risen. One of the reasons may be that we were able to send a shipment of mosquito nets and each person that comes to the clinic receives this life-saving tool! Also note that the clinic accepts payments from those that are able but turns no one away that needs medical care.
As you read some time ago, the demand for medical services has exceeded the capacity of their small facility. Through the assistance of supporters like you, ICF provided funding to expand this clinic to meet the current and future needs of the community.
We are happy to report that the construction of the additional facility has been completed and the President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, came to see the project and offer her support and gratitude!
The President was quoted as saying, "I am grateful to you, Pastor Emmanuel and Ruth Gyamfi and your entire team. I am also grateful to International Children's Fund, whose funds have enabled you to complete such an enormous project. The Country's challenges are many and the government can't do it all alone. Initiatives such as these are very welcoming because they buttress the government's development agenda in terms of infrastructure and health care delivery. It gladdens my heart to see that your ministry is sensitive to the needs of the community. I hope this will not be the end". After cutting the ribbon, the President toured the building and when she saw the quality and the the interior of the clinic along with medical supplies donated by ICF, she was very impressed and as she shook the hand of Pastor Gyamfi she said, "You have done well".
Friends, your prayers and support are doing a world of good. It is a long way from the United States to a clinic in Africa, but because of your compassion and sharing, TOGETHER WE ARE MAKING A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE! There is still more work to do - please help us to continue supporting the people of Liberia by making an online donation today! https://www.icfaid.com/pages/DonateNow/
